Development of metformin HCl granules using brown flaxseed mucilage as a retardant polymer: effects of polymer and drug ratio

چکیده

Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) is the seed of a multipurpose plant pharmaceutical interest, as its mucilage can be used natural matrix to develop extended-release dosage forms and potentially replace synthetic polymers. In this study, 3² factorial design with two replicates central point was applied optimize development granules metformin HCl. The total fiber content well friability dissolution formulations were evaluated. lyophilized presented high (42.63%), which suggests efficiency extraction process. Higher concentrations HCl yielded less friable granules. addition, lower higher resulted in slower drug release during assays. kinetics for most better represented by Hixson-Crowell model, while containing concentration Korsmeyer-Peppas model. Nonetheless, five showed longer than reference HPMC formulation. More desirable results obtained (13-18%) (40%).
